Two Cases of Convulsions During Lithium Therapy

Abstract
|
|
|
The author observed two cases of convulsions with sernicomatose conditions during lithium carbonate treatment.
In the first case, a man, aged 32, developed typical grand mal like seizure after 8 days of the treatment with 1200mg of lithium and 300mg of chlorpromazine daily.
In the second case, a man, aged 34, developed same manifestations as observed in the first case except the occurrence of seizure attack after 17 days of the treatment.
The convulsive attacks and semicomatose conditions were disappeared after immediate withdrawal of lithium.
The development of convulsions of both cases seemed not to be related with the overdosage of lithium.
